Men’s Counseling
Depression and Anxiety when Life Feels Overwhelming
As a man who has been deeply affected and healed by counseling, I understand how difficult it can be to admit that something is not working—and how vulnerable it can feel to ask for help.
I work with all kinds of men who are carrying anxiety and depression from conflict and questions about identity or purpose. Sometimes these struggles relate to old wounds that may have gone unnamed for years, or maybe they are everyday struggles that are keeping you stuck in ways you can’t seem to shake.
My goal is to offer a compassionate, steady place where you can speak honestly, take a breath, and begin moving toward durable hope and lasting change.

Common Concerns for Men
A lot of men only try counseling after managing their struggles privately for a long time. You may be functioning well on the outside while feeling stuck, exhausted, disconnected, or uncertain underneath. Concerns may include:
- Persistent anxiety and a feeling of stress: Things like difficulty slowing racing thoughts or trouble pausing to take a breath.
- Depression: So many guys feel angry, empty, numb, or hopeless, and depression can be the thing underneath it all.
- Addictions: Maybe it’s alcohol, drugs, maybe its porn, exercise, or working too much, but you’re doing something you don’t want and it feels impossible to quit.
- Feeling like an imposter: Things like perfectionism, self-criticism, or fear of failure keep you up at night.
- Questions about identity, purpose, sexuality, and faith: Feeling like the direction your life has taken isn’t what you wanted, or you’re not sure how to change course after the experiences you’ve had.
- Old wounds: Whether its stuff from your childhood or patterns in your current relationships, sometimes trauma, abuse, and family-of-origin wounds can manifest as feelings of being stuck without a way forward.

Austin’s Approach to Counseling

I believe that relationships are central to our well-being. So often, we are wounded in relationship, but it’s in relationship where we can also experience healing. I work to create a safe and respectful space where we can explore the source of your concerns, name what has been difficult to carry, and practice healthier emotional, mental, and relational patterns. I bring my LPC, MAC, and MDiv credentials to my practice, along with my graduate training in counseling and divinity, and my own experience of receiving meaningful care.
